Summary
On November 2025, I took and passed the Offsec’s Certified Wireless Professinal (OSWP) certification exam!
This wasnât a certification I had originally planned to pursue, but since it was included for free with OffSecâs Learn One subscription, I figured “why not”? Wi-Fi hacking isnât closely related to my day-to-day work as an Application Security Engineer, and you could argue itâs not the most practical skill set nowadays. Still, itâs useful to understand the techniques, even if only as Red Teaming preparation or to “borrow” a neighbor’s WiFi (for legal reasons, that’s a joke).
Practical or not, thereâs definitely a âcool factorâ to Wi-Fi hacking. Alongside things like breaking into someoneâs social media account, itâs probably one of the first examples that comes to mind when regular people think about hacking. One image that stuck with me (long before I got into cybersecurity) was from Mr. Robot, where Elliot hijacks a neighborâs Wi-Fi using a makeshift antenna built from a Pringles can.
Hereâs my video review of the certification, along with some tips if youâre considering going for it yourself:
