Summary

On November 2025, I took and passed the Offsec’s Certified Wireless Professinal (OSWP) certification exam!

This wasn’t a certification I had originally planned to pursue, but since it was included for free with OffSec’s Learn One subscription, I figured “why not”? Wi-Fi hacking isn’t closely related to my day-to-day work as an Application Security Engineer, and you could argue it’s not the most practical skill set nowadays. Still, it’s useful to understand the techniques, even if only as Red Teaming preparation or to “borrow” a neighbor’s WiFi (for legal reasons, that’s a joke).

Practical or not, there’s definitely a “cool factor” to Wi-Fi hacking. Alongside things like breaking into someone’s social media account, it’s probably one of the first examples that comes to mind when regular people think about hacking. One image that stuck with me (long before I got into cybersecurity) was from Mr. Robot, where Elliot hijacks a neighbor’s Wi-Fi using a makeshift antenna built from a Pringles can.

Here’s my video review of the certification, along with some tips if you’re considering going for it yourself:
